OPERATIONAL POLICY

Materials may be borrowed ONLY with a valid, updated library card. NO ONE ELSE CAN USE YOUR LIBRARY CARD. A Library card will be issued free to any adult or any child six (6) years or older provided they fully complete and sign the registration card. A driver’s license belonging to the adult which is also used for the child will be copied along with a current piece of mail (with a post mark, name and current address on the envelope), to place on file. Children under 18 years of age MUST have a parent or legal guardian present to sign their registration card. A $.50-cent fee will be charged for reissuing nay lost or damaged Library cards. Parents should notify the Library of any changes of address or phone number.

BOOKS AND PERIODICALS (except new acquisitions) may be checked out for a 14-day period and may be renewed once.

RECENTLY ACQUIRED BOOKS designated as RENTAL BOOKS, have a cost of $.25-cents to check out and are due in seven (7) days. Only (2) of the recently acquired books per card may be checked out at a time. These may also be renewed once.

The following are general rules for Library the property and to respect the other patrons using this facility.

  1. Please do not run in the Library.
  2. No eating or drinking in the library. Except in specified areas.
  3. No smoking or alcoholic beverages in the Library.
  4. Loud or obtrusive behavior is not allowed in the Library or on the grounds.
  5. Harassment, physical or verbal, of fellow patrons or Library staff will result in expulsion from the Library.
  6. Intentional misbehavior or misuse of Library materials will result in expulsion from the Library and possible loss of Library privileges.
  7. Non-compliance with Library rules will result in expulsion from the Library and possible loss of Library privileges.
  8. Destruction or damage of Library property will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
  9. At the staff member’s discretion, the city police may be called to handle non-compliance with the above rules, dangerous or intoxicated behavior.
  10. Cell phones must have volume turned down while in the Library and calls kept quiet.

REFERENCE BOOKS MAY NOT BE CHECKED OUT AND THEY MUST STAY ON THE PREMISES.

RESERVED BOOKS will be held for four (4) business days after the Library staff has notified the patron. If the patron fails to pick up the book within this time, the Library staff will contact the next person on the list and will attempt to contact the original person when the item is again returned. After two attempts your name will be removed from the reserve list.

COMPACT DISCS AND VIDEOS may be checked out without a fee for seven (7) days. Patrons must be 18 or have a parent’s permission to check out videos or compact discs. PARENTS MUST BE PRESENT. There is a limit of two (2) videos or audios at a time, per Library card. A total of five (5) items may be checked out at any one time, per Library card. New patrons are limited to two (2) items per Library card for their first three (3) check outs.

OVERDUE BOOKS suspend your privileges until they are returned or paid for. They must be returned in good condition or as they were at the time of check out. A reminder call will be made a month after the checkout if not returned to us and if we are unable to reach the patron then a reminder card will be sent.

FINES shall not exceed the cost of the OVERDUE ITEM. 7-day, and 14-day books and periodicals are $.25 cents per day per item. Videos and Compact discs are a $1.00 a day per item. A 24-hour accessible book drop is available for your convenience to return items. When using be sure items go all the way down. If they don’t and someone retrieves the item, you are still responsible for it. Also make sure we aren’t open. We check the box every morning and if we are open and it is due that day it will be late.

ACCEPTANCE OF A LIBRARY CARD SIGNIFIES ACCEPTANCE OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR MATERIALS ISSUED TO THAT CARD. LOST OR DAMAGED MATERIALS WILL BE CHARGED TO THE RESPONSIBLE PATRON AND OR PARENT. NO OTHER MATERIALS MAY BE CHECKED OUT UNTIL ITEMS ARE RETURNED OR PAID FOR AND ALL FINES ARE PAID. THIS INCLUDES THE USE OF THE COMPUTERS.

COPIES/PRINTINGS: $.25 CENTS PER COPY FOR BLACK AND WHITE, AND $.50 CENTS PER COPY FOR COLOR.

Patrons waiting to use the Public access computers must complete and sign an additional access form. A policy statement will be provided for you to read.
